Trying

Well, it's official. We are trying to have a baby. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. The timing may not seem ideal to most people, but I'm not getting any younger, and my plans include being able to retire by the age of 50. A little bit about me:

1. I am a nursing student. No, we didn't plan to get pregnant while I was still in school, but we had a scare last week that got us talking. The timing now is better than having my second while in the throes of my master's program.

2. I am an Army reservist/active duty veteran. These two things are fortunately the only income I need.

3. My husband is also a full time student. We get a decent chunk of his financial aid.

4. I want to go all natural for my childbirth and the events leading up to it. The only thing I plan on doing is finding out my baby's gender.

5. Our parents do not know that we are trying. In this instance, it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission, and easier to show them that we can do it rather than try to convince them.

  1. #5 is so, so important. Having kids is such a personal decision, and only you and your hubby know when the time is really right. It's so easy to let external factors control whether it's time to "try" or not. Good for you for keeping it a matter between just yourselves.
